Ben Sherman makes tailoring comeback for SS25

After a six-year absence, heritage fashion brand Ben Sherman has re-entered the world of sharp tailoring for SS25. Attributing the release to a “resurgence of dressed-up style”, Ben Sherman’s creative director, Mark Williams said now’s “the right time to step back in to the formalwear fold”.

It recognised the shift away from formalwear during the pandemic, which impacted demand and continued until recently. But now it’s back, Theindustryfashion reported.

“With the resurgence of dressed-up style and strong momentum across our UK website, our new London and Brighton stores and national retail partners like John Lewis, the time was right to reintroduce tailoring,” Williams said.

“This new collection is a confident return, rooted in our heritage and designed to meet the evolving style preferences of our customer.”

That heritage element means the brand has returned to its Mod roots with its slim ‘Soho Fit Suit’ – coming with a two-button jacket as opposed to original three button Mod styles.

Williams added: “Ben Sherman’s approach to tailoring has always been grounded in our brand’s heritage. While wider silhouettes and relaxed fits are undoubtedly trending across the industry, we believe it’s equally important to offer styles that reflect what our customers continue to seek. Our consumer gravitates toward a sharper, more fitted silhouette – something that’s been central to the Ben Sherman identity for decades.

“The slim-fit featured throughout this collection is a modern interpretation of the clean, structured tailoring worn by the Mods, style pioneers whose influence remains deeply embedded in British menswear.”
