Next-owned British lifestyle brand Cath Kidston is back partnering with popular Finnish children’s characters Moomins for a new apparel and accessories range.

Four years on from the first collab, the latest one features limited-edition prints for autumn/winter 2025.

And it comes with a special message as the range promotes the characters first created “to give comfort and hope during difficult times”, with Tove Jansson’s illustrated Moomin stories “offering a refuge from reality infused with the themes of love, friendship and community”.

Featuring painterly florals, not-so-delicate-but-fun ‘ditsies’ and rich dreamscapes of fantastical adventures, the collection “marries Jansson’s beloved characters with Cath Kidston’s renowned print archives, and specially crafted new works of art, uniting these two vibrant worlds”.

The range includes fashion for both adults and children – from frill-trimmed dresses to dungarees and sleepwear for all the family – as well as a broad selection of rucksacks, tote bags, purses and accessories.

Wider homeware includes cushions, lampshades, vases, storage baskets and a welcome mat featuring the Moomin quote: ‘You must go on a long journey before you can really find out how wonderful home is’.

All the characters are featured (Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Snorkmaiden, Little My, Snufkin and Sniff) and the range is also strongly connected with the natural world, featuring flowers, outdoor adventures and the fantastical landscapes of Moominvalley.

Cath Kidston creative director Holly Marler said: “My design team and I took such joy in immersing ourselves in the beautiful world Tove created. Her sense of values, humour and community feel so connected to what is important to us here at Cath and have made her characters so beloved across generations.

“We committed to reading and researching her stories, art and life before hand-painting our own world for the Moomins to explore, to capture a merged world that feels authentic to the fans and to the artistry.”

James Zambra, creative director, Moomin Characters, added: “On our 80th anniversary, we’re honoured to be partnering with such an icon of British design as Cath Kidston. It feels like a perfect pairing for celebrating this important milestone.”

The price range of the collection begins at £12 for a Cath Kidston x Moomin baby sleepsuit up to £74 for a Moominvalley overnight bag.
