Bianca Saunders’ work has made it to the Tate, with the help of William Blake. The British menswear designer has produced an exclusive new capsule collection for the art gallery that reimagines iconic works by the visionary artist “through the lens of one of fashion’s most innovative voices today”.

Launching on 23 October and available exclusively through Tate’s retail channels this autumn/winter (“while stocks last”), it draws inspiration from Blake’s The Good and Evil Angels (c.1795–1805) and The Simoniac Pope (1824–7).

There result is a bespoke four-piece capsule featuring: ‘Judging Adam Jumper’ (cotton blend) – £135; ‘Fire Top Long Sleeve’ (100% cotton) – £135; ‘Judging Adam Hat’ (wool blend) – £75; and ‘Judging Adam Scarf’ (wool blend) – £120.

Conceived as a non-gendered collection, the capsule “underscores Saunders’ commitment to inclusivity and fluidity in design… made with a conscious approach to longevity and material durability, in line with Saunders’ emphasis on thoughtful production”.

The project also marks the first in a new series of fashion-led initiatives following Tate’s growing portfolio of design-led retail offers which have previously featured Jenny Holzer, Lazy Oaf, Been London, and Swatch.

Saunders said: “It has been inspiring to engage with William Blake’s imagery and bring his powerful symbolism into dialogue with my design practice.

“This capsule celebrates both art and everyday life, offering pieces that are deeply considered yet designed to be worn and lived in.”

Rosey Blackmore, director of Licensing and Merchandise at Tate, added: “Bianca’s work embodies the kind of bold, multidisciplinary thinking that we champion. This collection brings Blake’s legacy into the present through wearable, thoughtful design.”
