La Paz unveils ‘Cunha All Court’ collection, inspired by Lawn Tennis Club da Foz and fronted by tennis champion José Vilela

Portuguese menswear brand La Paz has launched its new ‘Cunha All Court’ collection, inspired by the Lawn Tennis Clube da Foz and fronted by José Vilela, a Portuguese tennis legend and the club’s coach for half a century.

Anyone who closely followed the legendary José Vilela, always dressed in a tennis T-shirt and shorts (and a sweatshirt on damp, misty days), forever tanned, with a broad smile and brandishing his racquet through the narrow streets of Foz Velha, in both youth and adulthood, will attest that these sweatshirts embody the identity of the five-time overall national champion, captain of the national side in the Davis Cup, and national coach.

The legendary player from Foz divided his time between the courts at the Castelo de São João da Foz and the older ones in Nevogilde. Everyone saw him pass by and recognised him in that favoured neighbourhood, which at the time still felt so far from Porto and reserved for a chosen few (now overcrowded).

“Rooted in the charm of the Lawn Tennis Clube da Foz in Porto, these soft cotton pieces are available in green, beige and terracotta — colours inspired by the club’s historic clay courts and coastal architecture,” says La Paz in a statement. “Designed for comfort on and off the courts, and now available online.”

According to the website, the Cunha All Court sweatshirts, inspired by the centenary Lawn Tennis Clube da Foz, in Porto — one of the oldest tennis clubs in Europe — combine tradition with a modern spirit: versatile pieces to wear on and off the courts. On the website, the 100% cotton pieces, regardless of colour, cost 115 euros each.

Also according to the website, all pieces are pre-washed to minimise shrinkage, made from a medium-weight fabric with a regular cut and a true to size fit. In addition to the e-shop, they are available at 59 Travessa da Senhora da Luz, in Foz, and 23 Rua da Reboleira, in Ribeira.
